Nickerson Gardens is the largest public housing development on the West Coast. When COVID-19 hit and typical resources (like schools) closed, the need for local, community-based resources and programming became critical. To ensure continued access to a supportive third space, community leaders partnered with Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers to enhance their neighborhood’s outdoor area.

I worked with design partners to help deliver a dynamic new playground and outdoor gym that encourage connection and play.
